London
Situated at the forks of the Thames River in the centre of SouthWestern Ontario, London is the region’s economic, entertainment and cultural hub.
Its diverse business community which includes Canadian Corporate headquarters for companies such as 3M, McCormick Canada, Trojan Technologies, TSC Stores, Starlim North America, London Life, Libro Financial, and STIHL, is complemented by its top notch educational institutions.

Public Transit
The London Transit Commission (LTC) provides conventional bus service within London. All LTC service routes are designated “Accessible”. This means scheduled buses on each route are low-floor, accessible buses. London Transit also provides a specialized transit service with a range of service delivery options for persons who have a disability which prevents them, on a regular basis, from being able to use London’s regular route transit service.
Trains & Busses
Direct train service to Toronto, Ottawa, Niagara Falls, Windsor, London, Kingston, Sarnia is available through the ViaTrain Station located in downtown London at 205 York St.
Coach bus service to and from London to a variety of locations throughout Ontario is available through Greyhound Canada which also operates from the London Bus Depot, 101 York St.
Roads
London is located just off Highway 401 providing easy road access east towards Toronto and west towards Windsor.
Air
The London International Airport offers direct flights to Toronto, Chicago, Ottawa and Calgary, as well as many other connections to several Canadian destinations. Looking to travel to warmer climates or exotic places? The London International Airport also has flights to Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica and several locations in Europe.
For those who want to travel from either Toronto’s Lester B Pearson Airport or Detroit Metro Airport, Robert Q Airbus ground transportation services are available.
Health Care in London
When it comes to health care, London is definitely known as a centre of excellence.
With a world class school of medicine at Western University, London is home to the London Health Science Centre which includes Children’s Hospital, University Hospital, Victoria Hospital, the Kidney Care Centre, Byron Family Medical Centre and the Victoria Family Medical Centre. London is also home to the London Regional Cancer Program, CSTAR (Canadian Surgical Technologies & Advanced Robotics) and two research institutes – Children’s Health Research Institute and Lawson Health Research.
St. Joseph’s Health Care London is also a major patient care, teaching and research centre. It includes St. Joseph’s Hospital, Parkwood Institute, Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care and the Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care. St. Joseph’s five key role areas include acute/ambulatory care, complex care and veterans care, long-term care, rehabilitation and specialized geriatrics and specialized mental health care.

For non-life threatening illnesses and injuries, London has a number of walk in-clinics as well as the Urgent Care Centre at St. Joseph’s Hospital, 268 Grosvenor Street which is open Monday – Friday: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Educate in London
From local public and secondary schools, provided through the Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board or Francaphone education provided through Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique Providence, there are a range of educational opportunities that address the pre-school, elementary and secondary school needs of children and families living in London
For individuals seeking a post secondary education, or who want to pursue continuing education opportunities, London is home to globally recognized higher education institutes.
This includes Western University and its affiliate colleges — Brescia University College, Huron University College, and King’s University College. Their schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Law and Engineering continue to lead Canada in achievement, while the Ivey Business School located at Western University was ranked among the top 100 business schools in the world by the Financial Times in 2014.
Fanshawe College is home to more than 17,000 full-time students with thousands more enrolled in part-time, continuing education, and apprenticeship programs. The College attracts students from approximately 50 countries every year and offers a wide variety of undergraduate and post-graduate programs and courses that lead to employment opportunities in the areas of health care, human services, electronics, business administration, information technology, music production, art, design, manufacturing, hospitality, transportation, broadcasting, environmental science and civil engineering.
Collège Boréal, located in London, offers a wide variety of postsecondary education programmes and employability and immigrant integration services, in French.
THINGS TO DO IN THE CITY

London boasts of having over 200 parks including the 140-hectare Springbank Park, and an extensive trail system that runs along the Thames River right onto Western’s campus, for walking, running, biking or inline skating. If watching sports is you’re your style London’s sports teams include the London Lightning (National Basketball League), London Majors (Senior A) and London Knights (Ontario Hockey League).
A taste of SouthWestern Ontario’s and London’s rich heritage can be experienced at the London Museum of Ontario Archaeology, Banting House (National Historic Site of Canada), Eldon House, Fanshawe Pioneer Village and more.
Prefer arts and entertainment including the visual arts, music, theatre, concerts and performances. Check out such places as Museum London and the McIntosh Gallery to the main stage of The Grand Theatre, to Centennial Hall and the Wolf Performance Hall, and large scale events at Budweiser Gardens.
