Oakville
Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, Oakville is a picturesque community nestled between Toronto to the east and Niagara Falls to the west.

Public Transit
Public transport is provided by Oakville Transit, which operates numerous bus routes within the city. Oakville Transit connects with GO Transit train and bus services at the Clarkson, Oakville and Bronte GO stations. It also connects with MiWay, the Mississauga Transit service, as well as with Burlington Transit.
All conventional Oakville Transit buses are equipped with a bike rack that holds 2 conventional bikes for those times when you want to explore the great outdoors or when you want to add biking as part of your daily commute. Oakville Transit also provides transportation services for customers with special needs through both conventional buses and their para-transit service, care-A-van.
Trains & Busses
Two GO Train stations service the Oakville area: Oakville GO Station at 214 Cross Avenue (west of Trafalgar, just south of the QEW), and Bronte GO Station at 2104 Wyecroft Road (west of Third Line).
ViaRail also operates out of Oakville with regular service between Oakville and Kingston, Ottawa, Montreal, London, Windsor, New York City and more.
Roads
Oakville is just 30 minutes from downtown Toronto and only an hour’s drive from Niagara Falls and the United States border. (Depending on traffic!). Oakville has easy access to the QEW, 403, 407.
Air
While Oakville does not have its own airport, air travel is within driving distance from international airports in Toronto (Lester B. Pearson Airport), Toronto City (Billy Bishop Airport), Hamilton and Buffalo, New York.
Health Care in Oakville
Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) is responsible for providing community hospital care in Halton and Peel Regions. It is responsible for three hospitals: Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH), Georgetown Hospital, and Milton District Hospital.
OTMH offers a comprehensive range of services to the residents of Oakville. Major programs include specializations in maternal/child care, intensive care, emergency and ambulatory care, medicine, mental health, surgery, rehabilitation and geriatrics. A number of regional programs operate out of OTMH including renal dialysis, cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education and an outpatient eating disorders program. The hospital also houses an inpatient rehabilitation unit and provides both inpatient and outpatient child and adolescent psychiatric programs.
In 2011, HHS became formally affiliated with McMaster University to train medical residents and students at its three community hospitals. A new Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is currently being built with expected completion in 2015.
Educate in Oakville
For families with children, Oakville offers a full-range of public, separate, and private education facilities that address education needs from pre-school through kindergarten and post-secondary education. The Halton District and Halton Catholic District School Boards are responsible for public education in Oakville.
Full-time, part-time, or continuing education courses, certificates and degrees are available at Sheridan College’s Oakville Trafalgar Campus. This Campus offers programs in animation, arts and design, advanced film and television, music theatre, business, community studies, the liberal arts, applied science and technology, and more.

Shopping, exploring the outdoors, theatre and the arts…Oakville has something for everyone.
Residents and visitors can enjoy theatre, dance, music and comedy performances at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts or they can visit a range of galleries, the Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate, or historical societies and local architecture, especially in heritage neighbourhoods.
If outdoors is more to your taste, Oakville has two natural harbours, 31 waterfront parks, 1,420 hectares of parkland, over 300 kilometres of trails, more than 200 parks, and many golf courses, including the PGA-recognized Glen Abbey Golf Course.
